Peanut Butter & a Giveaway
Oh, peanut butter. I never realized how much I relied on this super food until I moved to England, where it's a more recent phenomenon, and very hard to find in its "American" version.
I remember having to buy imported Skippy, a brand I'd never bought when I lived in the States. I also remember sitting in the break room at our tiny converted-country-house office and being ridiculed for choosing peanut butter on toast over a hot bacon roll for breakfast.
I think I really opened my British co-workers up to a world of peanut butter. While I lived there, I regularly had apples dipped in peanut butter for breakfast or snacks, made peanut butter cookies, and almost every day, peanut butter on toast was my breakfast (and sometimes lunch too).
I know that there are people allergic to peanuts (Hi, Tracy! I love you!), but if you aren't, you really ought to be looking at peanut butter as the perfect breakfast food it is.
To encourage that, the National Peanut Board has created their Peanut Butter Fanatic Facebook page, where you can share recipes, vote for your favorite recipe, and every vote they get, America's peanut farmers will donate $5 (up to $10,000) to help serve nutritious breakfasts to the hungry.
Making time for breakfast can be hard. But I've timed it - my toast takes exactly 97 seconds to get to perfection. While the bread is toasting, I slice an apple or banana for topping. Slathering the bread with a healthy dose of peanut butter takes another 30 seconds, and then topping with apple or banana 15 seconds more.
In a little less than 3 minutes, I've made myself a healthy breakfast full of fiber, protein, and more than 30 essential nutrients and phytonutrients.

You can even make these fabulous Peanut Butter and Jelly Bars from My Baking Addiction and grab them on your way out the door.
Not only can you help those in need with a click, you also have a chance to win peanut butter samples and a $50 Visa gift card by posting your favorite way to eat PB for breakfast and sharing with your friends. I will select and announce a winner on March 10.
I really hope that you'll take the time to vote for your favorite recipe. One click equals $5 towards the breakfast of the ones who need it most.

Toast flax bread and peanut butter EVERY morning. I love it. I crave it. It gives me energy and makes me happy.
Can it be our little secret that I loathe peanut butter...shhhh...but my husband and daughter LOVE it. I mean LOVE it. Their favorite breakfast is pancakes with peanut butter and syrup and they both eat peanut butter and jelly or honey sandwiches for lunch every day. So I may just have to make those bars as a special treat for them.
Love to have eggo waffles with peanut butter - make a sandwich and out the door I go.

When I know I'm going to have a long morning, a little pb on my toast really carries me through until lunch.

My favorite way to eat pb for breakfast is to add it to a smoothie or oatmeal. It's so good.

Ah I love peanut butter too.
Well first of all, I really love crunchy (I'll eat smooth, but crunchy is my favorite). In the morning, I actually love a dollop of it in my oatmeal. It adds a bit of protein, and makes for this sweet peanut-buttery taste with my oatmeal. A bit unconventional, but so delicious! I also second love having it on a banana!
